What is Smart-Steering?

After you’ve been installed with ALLO service, you’ll notice that you have a single network name and password. But technically, you have the power of two networks working for you under a single name and password, both your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks are on and working overtime behind the scenes. Thanks to our Smart-Steering technology, your devices will automatically switch between your 2.4Ghz and your 5Ghz networks depending on which network will provide the best internet experience for you.

You may notice that the closer you are to your router, the faster your speed test will be. That’s because your 5Ghz network offers faster speeds at a shorter distance as opposed to your 2.4 network, which focuses on giving you a reliable connection all over your home.

If you’re seeing two networks in your list of available connections, that means Smart-Steering isn’t currently applied to your account. If you’d like to enable Smart-Steering, Give us a call at 866.481.2556 or submit a ticket and our local team would be more than happy to help!
